Tom Wilen – Baikalpharm’s Senior Strategic Advisor

World-wide recognized american expert in alcohol industry Tom Wilen has become Senoir Advisor for Baikalpharm. Tom along with his business partner Dr. Marat Shinkarev visited Baikalpharm plant in July, 2008.
They had a business meeting with company’s CEO Mikhail Matkhanov and Baikalpharm’s top managers. Besides inspection of the plant they have tried Baikalpharm’s products. They regarded plant’s facilities as highly automated, environment friendly, modern and safe. Especially, Tom mentioned «Crystal Drop» vodka and balms «Buryatia » and «Amrita». He said: «I strongly believe that our joints efforts will be rewarded with great results».
Tom V. Wilen has two decades of senior management experience with Fortune 500, Global 1000 as well as midsize and small private companies. Mr. Wilen served as President of Allied Domecq North America, the largest $1.3 billion division of publicly traded Allied Domecq PLC, where he implemented its largest reorganization to become the First Choice Supplier. Mr. Wilen has also served as Chief Operating Officer for Jim Beam Brands Worldwide, Inc., the $1.2 billion division of publicly traded Fortune Brands, Inc., where he successfully implemented a new global distribution strategy and negotiated a global three-party joint-venture, Maxxium, merging operating companies in 60 countries with 2200 people and with sales today in excess of $2.0 billion while creating one of the leading global distribution structures in this industry. Mr. Wilen also led and implemented; the $100 million acquisition of Geyser Peak and Canyon Ranch in California; the $100 million Palace Brands joint venture in New York; the restructurings of $300 million Whyte & Mackay in Scotland and the $70 million Canton Woods Company in Kentucky and the start-up of $100 million Fortune Brands in Australia among others. He has served on the board of Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS) in Washington D.C. Mr. Wilen attended Helsinki Swedish Business School, where he graduated with a degree in Economics and Business Management.
Dr. Shinkarev is an internationally known business strategist and consultant specializing in global business development with 20 years of experience in more than 60 countries assisting international producers/institutions and governments in a wide spectrum of industries, including wine and beverages, in global business expansion. He has also served as a Managing Director; in Strategic Advisory Services; took annual strategy consulting sales from zero to $1.5 million.
Dr. Shinkarev is highly proficient in conducting financial and commercial activities in the key growth regions including Russia, India, CEE, SEA/Oceania and the Middle East. He is a Member of US Wine Market Council, American Chemical Society, ACS and American Marketing Association, AMA.
